About

Q. Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Josh. I live on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, and I have been working as a full time wedding videographer for 14 years. Since the birth of Joyride, I have filmed weddings all over Australia and have traveled to destinations such as Italy, France, Greece, Thailand, America, New Zealand & Indonesia

Q. What is your style of shooting and what should we expect on the day?

I aim to be unobtrusive in my approach. In my experience blending into the background, allows me to capture the day authentically, and produces the best results in my opinion.

Q. What is that vintage grainy footage in your videos?

It’s called super 8. It is a motion picture film format from the 1960’s. I use it as a tool to create a feel of nostalgia and timelessness.

Q. Do we have to have Super 8 in our wedding film?

I have done many weddings where the couple like the vibe of our videos, but not so much the look of the vintage film, which is totally cool!

Q. Can we have super 8 only films?

I don’t offer super 8 only films unfortunately. I feel a good mix between both film and digital mediums is where my work shines. Film is an unpredictable medium so a mixture of film and digital ensures you’ll have plenty of memories recorded just incase the film doesn’t turn out just right.

Q. Can we choose our own music for the edits?

Before I start my editing process I will get you to send me 3-5 songs of your choice in which I can choose from.

Q. Do you offer photography services?

No I do not, but I am close to several great photographers in which I would gladly recommend!

Q. Do we get the RAW Footage

I do not offer RAW video files. I do however offer a DocuStyle edit for an extra cost on top of my packages. See Below.

Q. What is the DocuStyle Edit?

This involves going through all of the footage from the day and chopping out anything unusable, doing a basic colour grade, and editing footage to a playlist of music provided by you. This lets you see the day unfold as a longer style edit.

Q. How long do you take to edit your videos?

I try my best to provide a quick turn around time for my videos. I am a one man team who does all post production in house. Most of my films are edited and delivered 10-16 weeks from your wedding date. Please note I shoot with real super8 film which has to be posted to our film lab in Melbourne, processed and returned. A process which takes roughly 4-6 weeks in itself. My films are then highly edited which involves culling through audio and footage, cutting it all together, adding music, colour grading, adding effects and mixing the audio, then to exporting and delivering.

Q. What kind of packages do you offer

I offer two main package types, which I split in to Premium and Basic Packages. These are then categorised into different hourly rates.

Premium Packages - Include full coverage edits of both Speeches and Ceremony with Audio recorded of each to be used within the edits as well. This also includes drone footage of the venue if they allow that. These packages start at $5095

Basic Packages - Just the highlights! Basic Packages are more cost effective but do not include full coverage of Speeches and Ceremony and audio is not recorded of vows and speeches. However this allow me to be able to shoot much more freely and creatively on the day without having to set up tripods and audio equipment. These Packages start at $4595

Q. Do you travel for weddings? And do you charge travel?

Yes I do. I’ve done many interstate and overseas weddings. I do not charge for the time it takes to travel but I do charge for flights, fuel or rental cars and accommodation costs depending on where the wedding is so keep this in mind.
